On October 7, 2020, I was up at 3AM, gathering my camera gear to groggily head out and film with newly minted Nobel Laureate Dr. Jennifer Doudna, awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for her work on CRISPR gene editing technology. With a team from UC Berkeley Public Affairs, I filmed Dr. Doudna as she tried to absorb the news with a pre-dawn cup of coffee, spoke at a virtual news conference on campus, and celebrated with her colleagues and lab members.
I then turned around a same-day edit — it felt just like being back at the Berkeley J-school, doing one-day news stories!
