Filmed throughout 2018 and into 2019 by a women-of-color-led filmmaking team, And She Could Be Next follows Stacey Abrams, Rashida Tlaib, and an incredible array of women of color candidates and organizers as they fight to transform democracy from the ground up. This powerful two-part documentary broadcasts on POV on June 29th and 30th, 2020, and will be streaming on the PBS site through August 2020.
This was a truly epic filmmaking endeavor, with multiple teams of field producers and cinematographers working all across the country, that I was fortunate to be part of for two days — covering Rashida Tlaib and Nse Ufot at the She The People conference in San Francisco and then Maria Elena Durazo’s swearing-in to the California State Senate.
